Hi Orange11, I almost always work with children and young people when they’re at school, so I watch them in their normal timetable (break time, lessons, assemblies, etc) before I meet them and work with them 1:1. If someone really didn’t want to work with me I certainly wouldn’t insist – I’m not there to stress children or young people out! But sometimes they take a bit of persuading that I’m okay, that they can trust me and be honest. I’ve had children hug me, run away from me, wink at me, swear at me, growl at me or draw me a picture!
