Its definitely working with the young people themselves, directly. I often talk about them with the adults around them – their families, their teachers, teaching assistants, etc, but meeting them is never boring and everyone is unique. I love meeting new people anyway, its in my personality, but sometime young people blow me away with how much they’ve overcome, how adaptable, how sociable or how creative they are.

Getting to talk to students about cool ideas in science! Students always have some fab ideas that they often come to on their own, it’s great getting to teach them but also to learn from them too!

Solving problems. It is great to work out a solution to something that no-one has done before!

My favourite days at work have been when I have heard back from someone who has spent many years in prison, and is now outside prison, living with their families, having a normal life, working and doing well. It reminds me that people can and do change – even if sometimes it takes people a few chances to do so. When a person leaves prison and does not reoffend – it is not just good for them, it means that we are all a little bit safer in society – no wonder these feel like good days at work 🙂

      Great question folks.

I’m really bored really easily – so I do whatever I can to keep my job different every day. Luckily, being a technician, researcher and teacher I have a lot of options. If I had to do the same thing every day I would be very unhappy – very quickly.

Try to understand what makes you happy. I don’t just mean a party or a new bit of clothing or new game. I mean the things you need every day to enjoy that day. If you can, try to get a job that those things are useful for. My quick boredom is actually a huge benefit to my job 🙂

      Good luck!

I think for me how varied it is – the mix of being with people and also being involved with creative projects 🙂
