Thanks for your question 588reaq29 and I’ll be really honest and say no, it wasn’t, because I absolutely loved it and used to get really excited about every new bit. I’m still quite geeky about learning about it now and I love books and journals and research papers. When you first study it at an undergraduate level you have to do quite a bit of maths to learn how to analyse data from research and lots of psychology students dislike that part or find it hard, but lots of psychologists never do that again after their degree (just mentioning it in case it puts you off!)

I was working full time when I studied psychology with the Open University in the evenings/weekends so if I wasn’t intrinsically motivated (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-determination_theory) I don’t think I could have done that for 3 years. I think everyone has a spark in them for something they just love doing – if yours is psychology, that’s fantastic and go for it! Go for it, whatever it is, there’s almost always a way to turn whatever you love into a career. Lots of people end up stuck in jobs they don’t really find that enjoyable (although you won’t find many of them in I’m a Scientist!)
