      The short answer is no… I don’t think it’s better – but I also don’t think it’s worse! I think they are different, and I think it’s really important people know what is on offer and can choose whether they want talking therapy, drugs, or both. Often CBT and medication work really well together.
      The NICE guidelines, that recommend what is the best treatment for things based on the available evidence, recommend talking therapies as a first line treatment for some things, like mild to moderate depression. So people should be offered talking therapy first. I think CBT is really useful, but it’s also not for everyone, and people should be able to have information about what it’s like and choose for themselves. For some problems medication is recommended as well as talking therapies and again I think people should be given all the information in as clear a way as possible.
